How Steady Household Works

We Offer Two Service Models:

One-Time Projects

When You Have a Specific Need

The HVAC died. The bathroom needs safety modifications. The mail is piling up.

You need an expert to handle the project—whether it’s a hands-on fix or managing a full crew.

How It Works

  • 1. Free Consultation: We discuss the challenge, assess the scope, and define the timeline.
  • 2. Site Assessment & Plan: We perform an on-site evaluation and provide a management fee estimate—no travel required from you.
  • 3. Sourcing & Strategy: We determine the best path forward—whether we handle the task personally or secure quotes from our “Steady-Vetted” network.
  • 4. Execution & Oversight: We perform the work directly or coordinate schedules and remain on-site to supervise all vendor activity.
  • 5. Quality Assurance: We ensure every detail meets our rigorous safety and quality standards—if we didn’t do it ourselves, we make sure it was done right.
  • 6. Project Handoff: You receive a digital walkthrough, photo documentation, and a complete project summary for your records.

What’s Included

  • Expert Assessment: We handle it personally or source the right specialist.
  • Sourcing: 2–3 vetted quotes if a contractor is needed.
  • Access & Oversight: We are on-site for all meetings and work supervision.
  • Schedule Management: We coordinate all timing and stay on track.
  • Problem Solving: We handle the “surprises” so you don’t have to.
  • Photo Updates: Regular digital reports for your peace of mind.

Project Examples

  • Household Administration: Streamlining mail and billing systems, benefits coordination, and subscription audits.
  • Smart Home Tech: Installation and management of remote monitoring cameras, smart thermostats, and medical alert systems.
  • Major Systems: Oversight for HVAC replacement, water heaters, electrical panel upgrades, plumbing, and roofing maintenance.
  • Home Modifications: Bathroom safety (grab bars, walk-in showers), kitchen accessibility, ramps, and stair lifts.
  • Post-Hospital Coordination: Rapid-response safety modifications, bedroom relocation, and medical equipment setup.

Ongoing Retainer (Monthly Maintenance)

Continuous Oversight for Total Peace of Mind

After the move-in. After the setup. After the organizers have finished.

Who keeps the home running safely for the long term?

How It Works

  • Dedicated Visits: We visit 1–2 times per month for a thorough household walkthrough and safety assessment.
  • Direct Communication: You receive a summary of every visit with photos and notes so you stay informed from anywhere.

What Each Visit Covers:

  • Daily Essentials: We make sure the “little things” work—checking lightbulbs, replacing remote batteries, and testing small appliances.
  • Safety & Clutter: We look for loose wires, clear trip hazards, and ensure walkways are bright and accessible.
  • Tech Support: We ensure the Wi-Fi is up, the TV is working, and smart doorbells or cameras are online.
  • Household Flow: We bring in the mail, check for leaks under the sink, and make sure the “big systems” like the HVAC feel right.
  • Vendor Point-of-Contact: If a specialist is needed for a repair, we’re there to let them in and make sure they do the job right.

Between visits we’re available for:

  • Emergency repair coordination
  • Contractor scheduling for identified issues
  • Questions about home maintenance
  • Family communication

We can arrange for, but do not provide:

  • 24/7 emergency response
  • Daily visits
  • Personal caregiving
  • Errand running
  • Home cooking

Custom plans are always available. Every home and every family is different. If you need more frequent visits, oversight during travel, or specialized assistance, we will build a plan that fits your family’s specific needs.

FAQs

What if something urgent happens?

First, it’s important to clarify what “urgent” means in our work: we handle urgent household and administrative issues (contractor no-shows, utility problems, lock-outs, property emergencies), not medical emergencies. For any medical situation, your parent should call 911 or their healthcare provider.

For household urgencies during business hours (Mon–Fri, 9am–6pm), clients have our direct phone number for priority response.

During onboarding, we document emergency protocols: who to call first, backup contacts, and clear procedures so everyone knows the plan before anything happens. Your parent will have emergency contact information for family, medical providers, and trusted neighbors: We are part of the support network, not a replacement for 911 or family.

For after-hours household emergencies (major leak, no heat in winter, etc.), we’ll help coordinate a response the next business day or can provide you with trusted emergency service contacts to handle immediate issues.

Do you provide personal care, bathing, dressing, medication management?

No. We’re not a home care agency and we don’t provide clinical or personal care. Our focus is household operations, the property, the logistics, the administrative details, the vendors. If personal care is needed, we’re happy to help you find and vet appropriate providers.

What areas do you serve?

Currently serving: Oakland, Berkeley, Alameda, Piedmont, Albany, and the surrounding areas.

What if I don’t like your contractor recommendation?

You choose. If you’re not comfortable with our options, we find more. You’re always in control.

Can you work with my existing contractors?

Absolutely. We coordinate schedules, provide access, oversee work, and handle quality control.

Do you have insurance?

Yes—general liability, professional liability, and bonding. All our contractors are licensed and insured.

How quickly can you start?

Initial assessments can typically be scheduled within 3-5 business days of your consultation. Urgent situations may be accommodated sooner; please let us know the nature of your emergency.

Prefer to write first? Fill out the form on our contact page and we’ll respond within one business day. No call required.
